It’s the windy season and many of us are heading towards a stretch of well-deserved leave. The combination of great wind with a few days of freedom often leads to a mild form of insanity where we push ourselves harder, faster and higher in an attempt to make the most of our precious days off.

To help get you through this season of madness, ikiteboarding has enlisted the help of Andrew Jones, a chiropractor who also boasts a Masters in Sports Medicine. Andrew’s healing touch has seen me through the results of a few moments of madness. I asked him if he minded sharing his seemingly bottomless expertise and lucky for us, he said yes.

Hi Doc,

I have flat feet and struggle with cramps and sore ankle's after my kite sessions.
Any advise would be much appreciated to relieve the pain.

Thanks Doc!

Hey there - I have these bunyan things growing on both feet where the knuckle of my baby toe rubs the strap. These are where the toe meets the foot. or a little further into the foot. They have been getting bigger over the past year - even with booties on! What can I do?? The sport is getting painful but I'm too addicted to stop, and I'm heading to Mexico for nonstop kiting!
Thanks

Hi Doc,

I am considering taking up kite surfing, but have had a back injury two years ago, rupturing a disc and slipping another while wakeboarding. My question is how hard is kite surfing on your back? would I be likely to injure myself again?

Thanks,

JD

Apart from a broken rib last week after landing flat on my harness hook....I have a rib question that i have had for nearly 6 months...I have what i think is a repetitive injury caused by my waist harness digging into my ribs: When not kiting, I find a tickling sensation on lower ribs on chest, always present and sometimes aches and feels like heart burn, it is accentuated by sitting in a straightback chair. Do you have any ideas on what this may be or how to treat this?
Thanks

Hi there,
I have had 2 knee reconstructions to repair my ACL and LCL. I still run with no problems and it feels fine with a bit of extra flex. I have done heaps of wakeboarding and surfing and I also paraglide which I imagine would give me good control of the kite.

Basically I want to know the liklihood of knee injuries in kitesurfing and what I can do to prevent this. I have never been kitesurfing before but feel pretty confident I will pick it up quickly. I just don't want to start if the impact is similar to doing wakeboarding jumps.

Thank you
