Line Manager Review

The Line Manager is a tool that allows you to cut rigging time and get you on the water quicker.

Like the Turbo Launcher, the Line Manager allows you to pre-rig your lines so that you can get on the water quicker the next time you hit the beach.

Here's how it works.

1) When you get off the water, clip the Line Manager onto your bar.

2) Start winding your lines as per normal. Don't disconnect your lines from the kite at this stage.

3) When there's a few feet of line left, clip the lines into the relevant slots. Take care to not loose reference of the lines.

4) Disconnect the lines from your kite, wrap the rest of the lines around your bar and wrap up the loose ends.

The next time you hit the beach, all you have to do is walk out the few feet of line up to the point where the lines are clipped into the slots (instead of walking the entire length of your lines). Connect your lines to the kite, remove the device from the bar, clip it onto your harness and you are ready to launch.

The secret of using this device is to always have it ready when you pack down by clipping it onto the back of your harness.  I have been using this device for a few weeks, and it has become pretty evident that I am able to rig much faster than those on my beach without this device.

In addition to saving time when rigging up, the Line Manager is great for launching from boats, beaches with limited space or crowded beaches.

Compared to the Turbo Launcher, which we reviewed earlier this year, this device is much smaller and easier to use. The Line Manager offers all the benefits of the Turbo Launcher without the hassle and bulk that came with the Turbo Launcher. Perhaps the Line Manager can be made even smaller in the near future, or reduced to just the rubber nozzle?

Conclusion

The kite gadget of the year. Small, effective and simple to use. Highly recommended.

Carlo, I don't feel this article is objective enough and maybe a little misleading!

A few guys have commented, on the forum, on the usefullness of it or lack thereof.

While the product is great there are negatives:

1. You have to have one for each kite you own.

2. What do you do with it while you're kiting as you need it with you after your session/downwinder when your vehicle isn't near? Tie it too you? One more thing to land on and hurt yourself??!?!?

While it definately aids in rigging your kite up allot faster my personal opinion (after testing it myself) is that the negative practicality out-weighs the usefullness of the product.

Hi Chavez

Thanks for yoyur comments - do raise your opinions as it adds value. Personally I have found that the Line Manager works well when you stick to the routine by clipping it onto your harness. If you don't stick to the routine you don't get the benefits of the tool. Also the more you use it the quicker your are able to rig with this.

where do you put the the device when you are on the water ? walk back to the car that's a mile away ?

I have my doubts

You can clip it onto your harness. You don't even know that it is with you.

hy, i found your product quite usefull, the only problem is to get used to it........after using it a few times you realise how much time you save.....and is not a big deal to carry something that weighs less than a few grams...in comparison with the benefits that you get ..........is a good tool to make things easier for riders............

What about leaving the lines attached to the kite, rolling up the lines, deflating the kite, packing it up and putting it the bag,any thoughts or problems? wont work if you are launching from a boat whatever but will be super quick to launch and pack up.

I just bought two of them and tested today for the first time. I thought it was very good. I dont know why some people had a difficult time setting it up... it was easy to set up and even easier to launch. I was inpressed on how quickly i launched. and we recomend it to anyone.

The last comment reeks of pimp all over it.

"The Line Manager offers all the benefits of the Turbo Launcher..."

Not so.
Turbo Launcher is better for drift launching alone, on little or no beach, or from a boat.

"Perhaps the Line Manager can be made even smaller in the near future, or reduced to just the rubber nozzle?"

It has - it's called the 'Time Manager.'
To see it in use, search for 'kitelauncher' on YouTube, scroll down and click on the poorly-named video 'How to Use.'
