Wave Riding Indonesia

Here is a short video with a few waves from my last trip. As I can’t disclose the exact location (if I did, I’d have to kill ya…) let’s just say it’s somewhere in Indo. There are probably many places like this and there is plenty of exploring still to be done by the adventurous.

Windy almost every day on your 9m or 11m – on this day I was on my 11m in the morning and 9m in the afternoon, pretty damn fine in anyones book….

I know the video looks like I have shown the same wave a couple of times, but the wave is so perfect it nearly looks the same everytime….promise….

Amazing footage Pete.

Did'nt know there was such a thing as uncrowded waves in Indo. The footage doesn't show any other kiters or pole boarders or even surfers (windy but clean enough to surf). Were there any?

How long did it take to sail back up to the take off point after each wave?

Booking my ticket - looks mind blowing.

hi peter,
Are you back now? We met in canggu with will and felix the day before you went on your trip. we were unlucky and did not get any wind on our boat trip. the weather was really unusual and we will try again next year. we scored some really good surf though.

cheers

Hi Peter
Good to hear from you - sorry to hear you had no wind -looking forward to the unofficial version... :) Will and Felix arrived the day I left so I didn't get to speak with them.

wrt surfers in water there generally weren't that many when windy (about 6/7 on the day of video) but we always chatted to them and told them to just keep taking waves as we'd straighten out if they got on same wave - worked fine and everyone got waves. Tack back out is a cinch

Sorry to sound picky, I am not trying to be. The footage is great. I would expect a surfer would have thrown in many more turns per wave. Could you have turned more often or was the speed along the wave necessary to make the next section? Or was it due to the windspeed?

very nice, what's your board?

Dax

Indo has two seasons - one with westerlies Dec-Mar? and one with easterlies June-Nov, depends what you want.

My board is Cyclone Destroyer 138x39 (4'6" x 152/5) tri-fin directional with 4WayFinSystem
