Waveriding Clinic with Greg Thijsse and Peter Petersen

The Wave Riding Clinic will take place on Friday the 21st of March at Big Bay (Cape Town, South Africa) – booking essential.

In association with Ikiteboarding, Cabrinha, Airush, Dakine ,4wfs, Geraghty Surfboards and Edge Hard, Greg Thijsse and Peter Petersen will be hosting a waveriding clinic aimed at everyone who wants to learn more about waveriding with a kite.

Greg Thijsse is SA’s top rider and Peter Petersen has years of experience in the waves. We will allocate max. 10 riders per instructor, so numbers are limited to 20 on  a first come first serve basis.

The clinic will be a full day of activity on and off the water with social lunch and optional dinner on the programme.

A wave-clinic for riders of all levels – beginners to pro. This clinic will be for anyone who wishes to learn more about the surf. Whether you want to know how to do your first turns on a wave or want tips on a handle-pass off the lip.

You will receive tons of tips and insight which will enable you to go out and further your own unique riding style, knowing that you understand all the basics.

You must bring your own equipment (Twintips ok) and you will have a chance to try out some of the latest gear from our sponsors.

The course will cover following subjects:

Equipment – kite, bar, board, fins, straps, harness

Technique – Strapped, strapless, hooked, unhooked, body position and motorics. Jibing & tacking, clearing whitewater.

How to read a wave – What can you do, what should you do. Understanding the conditions you ride in.

On water demonstration: Greg and Peter will demonstrate waveriding maneuvers and techniques.

All riders will be given one-on-one tips and advice to improve your riding.

09.30-10.00: Introduction of Instructors and Programme

10.00-11.00: Theoretical Part 1

11.00-12.30: On water demo and tuition

13.00: LUNCH Big Bay Lifesavers

13.30-16.00: On water demo and tuition

16.00-17.00: Wrap-up incl. Theoretical Part 2

20.00 onwards Dinner and Social @ Primi (bring girlfriends, mates etc)

Terms:

Min. 10 entrants – max 20.

Payment by EFT latest Wed. 19th 17.00 – details will be emailed

Clinic will be postponed if weather is not co-operating – green-light will be given Wed. 19th March latest 20.00

Clinic will be cancelled if min. 10 entrants have not signed up and paid by Wed.19th 17.00
