Playa Copal
Fly into Liberia int airport (LIR). Its about hour drive north to small town right off main highway called La Cruz. Turn into the town untill you come to the end, overlooks beautiful bay(Bahia Salinas) drive down hill onto dirt road for about 15kilos. Will see sign for playa copal, take right to the end and you will see kites out and extremely wind blown bay!! your there!!
Rental cars are usually best option, can get at airport. Taxi as well will cost about $40. If your staying at a kiteboarding destination they typically have shuttle service around $60.
I stayed at a kiteboarding retreat. Called La Sandia activities cabinas and restaurant. Extremely well priced, laid back, offer everything you need. Have cabinas to rent or whole houses. www.lasandia-costarica.com
La Sandia offers all you can eat BBQs as well as full restauruant. Many sea food dishes. Another place is copal restaurant down at the beach up on hill.
La Sandia also offers many other activities in the area. Snorkeling, scuba diving, 4X4 tours, nature tours, ATV tours, surfing expeditions, fishing.
Living cost is very low if stay at La Sandia. You can cook your own meals if renting house. Or they will offer full food package and week stay. On average will cost about $40 per day.
Very strong!!! This is the 9th windiest place in the world, I would almost think #1. Have been going down for couple years, have yet to see a day under 20mph. Basically strong wind 6m to 12m kites guaranteed everyday. Im not kidding, everyday!!!
Best time is Nov to March. That is the typical wind season, or dry season. I prefer getting there in Dec to late Feb. It starts getting bit dry and too windy later.
Water is warm, clear, salty. Choppy in the middle but there are several sand bars and reefs to have perfectly flat water riding.
Couple reefs, sand bars etc.
Would contact Lucie, Damien, Kent, at www.lasandia-costarica.com

Dont bring big kites!!! Seriously nothing bigger then 12m is needed. Main kite used 9m.
This is the real Costa Rica. Beautiful farming and fishing area. Boasts amazing views, incredible fresh foods, incredibly nice locals. Has a real beautiful vide to it, amazing tranquil kiteboarind experience. Except the wind itself is extreme!!!
The beach is side on shore wind and long. Sandy with small pepple mix. Plenty of room to rig and launch for many people, will never be too full.
