40mins Drive North from the Airport. or if your already in the city it is just 20mins from the Auckland harbor bridge.
take the Silverdale exit from the motorway and drive over the hill and you are on the beach.

You can pitch a tent or park a camper van in a campsite right on the beach. From NZ$10/night.
Or stay in a backpackers. from NZ$18/night.
Motels and Hotel start at NZ$70/night

Homa kebabs are awesome, 5 min walk from the beach.
Plantation cafe cheap and large feeds right where you pump your kite up.

Everything is here, its a well developed area on the edge of Auckland.
The marine reserve at Goat Island is awesome for swimming with big fish.

$40/day easy if your camping.

NZ weather changes fast but its great riding.
FLAT kites are the best.

October is still quite cool with blustery weather at times, but its not cold.
January-April is the best of the summer kiteboarding.

Warm water with small waves.
Awesome wave riding fun up to 1-2m in big winds.

Don't kite in the shallow water.
Move out the back away from any swimmers.
Never kite between the two flags on the beach, it is a swimmers only zone. Stay away from the surf club operations.
the other 3km is yours!

Always a good friendly bunch at the beach.

So stay away from the shallows and the swimmers.

Its one big wide sandy beach.
Very crowded in January, but other months are fine.
Avoid it on a saturday during summer.
Mid week the whole place is yours.
